Department of Hygiene and Sanitation
The Department of Hygiene and Sanitation is responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy environment within the Ndu Council area. This department is divided into two key units:
Unit for Hygiene, Sanitation, and Waste Management
- Section for Hygiene, Sanitation, and Waste Management: This section is responsible for promoting hygiene practices, managing solid waste, and improving sanitation conditions. It oversees waste collection, transportation, and disposal, as well as public toilet maintenance and cleaning.
Unit for Civil and Environmental Protection
- Section for Civil Protection: This section is responsible for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. It develops emergency plans, conducts drills, and coordinates with other agencies to respond to emergencies such as floods, fires, and accidents.
- Section for Environment and Natural Resources: This section is responsible for environmental protection, conservation, and sustainable resource management. It monitors environmental quality, enforces environmental regulations, and promotes sustainable practices.
- Section for Council Forests and Green Spaces: This section is responsible for managing and protecting the council’s forests and green spaces. It oversees afforestation, reforestation, and urban forestry initiatives, as well as the conservation of biodiversity.
By effectively managing these diverse functions, the Department of Hygiene and Sanitation contributes to the overall well-being of the Ndu Council community and protects the environment for future generations.
